Of course it’s already November 14th and I’m just getting around to sharing my October favorites. Not that anyone was waiting around to hear what the were, but I was hoping to share before the month was half over. When I first started Let’s Chat About It, my goal was to post 3x/week — that has not happened — but now that life is slowing down a bit and we’re beginning to hibernate for winter, I really want to make it a priority to share more, even if the posts are a bit shorter. Blah blah blah…here’s what I loved in October (and have been continuing to love in November) —
01 | Bambi Hair & Body Oil
A small, female owned business worth giving all my money to. Nadia, a childhood friend of Jonah’s, created the most perfect oils for hair & body. Jonah and I have both been using them daily and can’t get enough. The hair oil helps to really enhance my waves and Jonah’s curls without weighing them down, and the body oil is so soothing to the eczema on my hands + legs. You can shop Bambi here!
02 | Towel Tote Bag
Anything cute and fun and new is my jam, which is not great for my bank account, but it brings me great joy. This bag caught my eye as soon as I saw it in-store and snatched it up just as quick. It’s been so practical and durable and adds a cutie element to an otherwise boring outfit. I’m just a sucker for anything towel textured and would buy one in every color if I could! I’m not finding a way to order the tote in the US or Canada, but here’s their site!
03 | Le Bon Shoppe Cottage Socks
These socks are just the best. I refuse to shut up about them! They’re so comfortable and not as warm as a true fuzzy / winter sock. I wear them with all the things — boots, sneakers, slippers. They’re not too thick, so I love how versatile they are. Le Bon Shoppe can do no wrong, in my opinion, and these are some of their very best! Linked ‘em here.
04 | Incense
I had never used incense in our apartment before — I’m a really committed candle gal — but decided to try the incense from Othership, which is just down the street from us in Toronto, and it is so yummy. It smells so clean and cozy. I’m a bit weird about lighting a candle if I don’t have time to let it fully burn evenly, so incense has been nice when I want the apartment to smell nice, but maybe need to blow it out after 20 minutes or so. I’m on the hunt for more nummy scents, so if you have a favorite let me know!
05 | Muji Pens
I don’t really enjoy writing with anything else. These are simply the best. I usually go for the 0.5 or 0.75 weight, but you can’t go wrong. Something about a good pen can really make your day feel brighter — dramatic? Yes. True? Also yes. I rarely ever say something is a must-have, but these…these are a must-have.
06 | Dark(ish) Lip Gloss
The Summer Friday’s Lip Butter Balm in Vanilla Beige is my go-to and has been for the last two years — I love it. I also ordered the Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment in Espresso Martini. For some reason, I was under the impression that it would be scented like an espresso martini, but it’s not, which bummed me out a bit, but I do love it! I’ve been wearing both (one or the other, not at the same time) over my Merit lipsticks in Tiger and Slip for a date night or even just a dark, sassy look during the day. I think a darker lip for the colder months is so fun!
07 | Beekeeper’s Naturals Cough Drops
I don’t even have a cough right now and have been obsessed with these. I don’t chew gum anymore, but occasionally still like the flavor of something and these are so yummy. They don’t taste super strong and the ingredients are all clean!
08 | Parke Linen Shorts
Obviously it is way too chilly for these in Toronto, but we went to Disney World at the beginning of the month and these were basically all I wore the entire trip. I have tried just about every linen short I can find and none compare. They were beyond worth the splurge IMHO. I have a relatively hard time finding shorts I feel confident in, but there’s just something about these. 10/10. Linking here, although they’re only available in an XL right now, they’re worth waiting for a restock!
09 | Hay(esque) Baskets
Sometimes I just need to have a catchall spot out in the open or in the car, but need it to be cute(ish), and I found some Hay(esque) baskets have been perfect for that. I keep my skincare / make-up in them in my bathroom, but just recently got a few bigger ones for Lola’s toys, a catchall in our car (my grandparents’ mini van we’re borrowing), and for my little coffee corner on the counter. Even though it’s messy inside of them, the basket is cute, so I don’t even notice! I found them at a small shop here in Toronto, and they don’t have a brand name on them, but I’ve seen lots of similar pieces floating around on the internet, you’re bound to find some if you don’t want to pay the full Hay price!
10 | Lambrusco
Orange wine and Lambrusco are pretty much the only wines, or alcohol, I have any interest in consuming these days. I recently told Jonah that I think orange wine and I were separated at birth, which is, one, a super odd thing to say, and two, makes me sound like I am teetering on the side of having a drinking problem, but it was the only way I could express just how much I love the flavor and experience of drinking it. The same goes for Lambrusco as well. My brother-in-law, Jonah’s brother, introduced us to Lambrusco in May, and although I loved it immediately, there has been an added coziness when ordering it this fall. Sitting outside in the crisp air and warm sun on an October Saturday just felt different. It’s delish, and pairs perfectly with fries (but what doesn’t?).
So there ya have it — my October favorites. I love to see what other people are gravitating towards in different seasons of life, so I hope this is some kind of enjoyable for you!
I have about 10 drafts I’m working to finish sometime in the near future, but until then, thanks for reading!
Chat soon — I mean it!
