Consumerism has gotten the best of me, and I need to take it down a notch. I’m trying to learn how to love something, to love the idea of a piece, to even be able to imagine all the ways I’d use or style it, to want it whole-heartedly, but still not purchase it. I’m learning that it’s okay to not have all the things, to not always have every single item I am wishing for, to be content with what I’ve got (because that’s plenty). So, to feel something, I thought I’d share what would be in my cart (but isn’t) with all of you!
First, these jeans from Everlane feel so me. I love the shape, the pinstripe, the enormous pockets in the back. They’re so good. I’d love to have ‘em, but I’ll survive without ‘em.
This blender, random, but pretty. I have a good ole Ninja Bullet, and it does the trick, so I really do not need a pretty blender — it just sounds fun and I know it would spark joy, but if I’m being honest, I would need to make three smoothies a day for this to be a justified purchase.
The Favorite Red Poppy Bar Soap from CLAUS PORTO looks so yummy, especially for fall & the holiday season, but $20 for soap is unnecessary in this economy (for me personally).
I would love this bracelet — I’m sure I would wear it every day, but I also do not go anywhere everyday (I work from home), so adding something fab to my accessories line-up isn’t something I should be doing at the moment.
Luckily, these pants are currently unavailable, because if they weren’t I’d probably secretly purchase. They look perfect for winter and feel very me, but it’s for the best that I cannot spend the money on these right now.
Everything else on this list is relatively reasonable in terms of what I might spend on something, but $850 will likely feel beyond out of my budget for years to come, so even if I wasn’t converting to a window-only-shopper, these boots would remain on the wishlist. They’re gorgeous and perfect and timeless and sturdy, but they will probably never be mine. I hope they could maybe be yours so I could live vicariously through you!?
Another gorg item that’s out of stock and keeping me from spending money I don’t have, but I really love so much about them. They’re relatively different than anything else I own, and I love Still Here NY, so supporting them always feels good. They sell out fast, so it’s hard to get your hands on their stuff, which probably adds to the allure of it all.
We actually are in the market for new towels — ours have gotten quite worn out and have that permanent musty smell that even vinegar can’t get out — but new ones don’t need to be expensive or fancy, I just want them to be, you know? I love the color of these, and a check pattern feels fun + fresh.
Is it a sign that this candle is on sale? It’s quite possibly my favorite candle of all time ever, so it feels like it’s begging me to hit purchase, but then again, maybe it’s a test and a reminder that just because I love something and that something is on sale does not mean I need to buy it! Whatever the case, if you have wiggle room in your budget to snatch this up, I couldn’t recommend it more. It is so yummy.
When I first launched Let’s Chat About It, I promised to never be another hub of links encouraging you to buy more things that you ultimately do not need, so I want to be clear — this is simply my personal wishlist of all the things I’d love to buy, but won’t, while exhibiting some much-needed self-control. My goal is to always feel like a friend you’re chatting with and a source of inspiration. I never want this to feel like a newsletter that makes you feel like you need more or don’t have enough, because believe me — we’ve all got a wishlist, and the majority of us are budgeting and saving for the next item! It is so rare to be able to buy and buy and buy. Anyways, I just really want this to feel like a safe place to land, and if it is not, please do not feel you need to read through posts like this one!
I’d love to know what’s on your wishlist, realistic or not, because it’s fun to all dream together, right? And, if you’re ever curious about some of the other things I have on my wishlist, I save lots & lots to my Locker (which I get no commission from — it’s simply a fun + social way to browse)!
I hope you have a lovely weekend!
Chat soon xx
